Beastie Boys, Hello Nasty (4LP)
Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Beastie Boys’ multi-platinum Hello Nasty album, this limited-edition deluxe reissue is a rare version of the album that was released as a limited run in 2009. Long out-of-print and sought after by fans and collectors, it includes two bonus LPs with 21 bonus tracks (remixes, B-sides and rarities). Widely considered to be one of best albums of the 1990s, Hello Nasty features the singles “Intergalactic” (certified platinum), “Body Movin” and "The Negotiation Limerick File.” It’s loaded with analog synthesizers, vintage drum machines, call-and-response vocals, futuristic sound effects, and almost otherworldly turntable scratching (thanks to the addition of the amazing Mix Master Mike). Co-produced by Beastie Boys and Mario Caldato Jr., it’s a record that embraces a kaleidoscope of musical influences, with hat-tips to Latin psych-rock, Brazilian samba, jazz-funk, dub, post-punk, and an impressive collection of collaborators ranging from reggae vagabond Lee “Scratch” Perry to Cibo Matto’s Miho Hatori. Hello Nasty exists as a snapshot of a moment in which the trio were growing up without forgetting how to have a lot of fun in the process, too. Pressed on 180g vinyl, this 4LP deluxe box set is housed in a hardcover slipcase and includes a removable sew-on patch.
